Shopp Alternative Google Base Feed

Posted on May 5, 2011

So you're running a Shopp, you're going to need a Google Base Feed to stand a chance of attracting traffic.

I got upset at the amount of hacking required to make the Google Base feed (/shop/feed) work correctly.

Google constantly change the requirements for the products feed and it doesn't seem possible to nicely modify the built in RSS feed for Google.

I wrote the Extra Cover Cricket site about a year ago to provide a central news hub for syndicated cricket news from around the world. Previously there has never been so much cricket news on a single web site. Seriously!

It was wrote around a single page that provided the home page, the category listing and the single article page. Really simple stuff.

Page Rank Updates

Posted on February 29, 2008

Looks like Google have updated their Page Rank recently. My index page has increased from PR0 to PR3!
Its been a mixed bag,my ADODB Documentation Library has increased to PR4 from nothing and my company's site i9000 Networks has increased from PR2 to PR4. Yet a few sites in the network have reduced, several PR5s have dropped to PR2.

Anyway, I'm happy, I'm PR3, which is the same as John Chow now.

Posted on January 2, 2008
