CubeCart 4 Released
September 11th, 2007CubeCart 4 has just been released. CubeCart 3 had been my choice of ecommerce store for some time, version 4 paves the way for some exciting new features.
It includes some of the better CubeCart 3 modifications as standard;
- SEO built in.
- Courier URL Tracking
- “Customers also bought..”
- Reviews
- Gift Coupons
- FireFox Extension - Allows you to get instant notifications of new orders, product reviews & stock warnings.
Even the new skin Caretta Soft looks stunning. My major reason for upgrading will be the more streamlined checkout process, my only issue with CC 3 was the cumbersome checkout process. CC4 cuts it down to 2 steps.
Maybe Magneto’s single page checkout process scared them into doing something about it!
The most noteable change is the cost, it has gone up about $90, a white label CC3 cost $89.95, now the same version costs $179.95. You need to fork out seperately for the download and the copyright removal key. It puts a stop to the stores that use an “unlicensed” CubeCart which shows the “Powered by CubeCart” link at the bottom of the page. Which isn’t such a bad thing. Personally. But it might upset a few people.
It shows a clear new direction for Devillion Ltd who are focusing more on the commercial aspect of software licensing.
Hey, it’s still cheap.
I’ve currently got 3 CC sites in developement, I’ll try to change at least one to CC 4 and post a more indepth review soon.
