I’m trekking into the unknown - CentOS, but thats off topic. For some reason, even the latest version stuck in 1982 - vi as the default editor for cron etc. Argh! I hate vi!

Want to change it to nano like me?

nano ~/.bashrc

and slam the following line at the bottom

export VISUAL=nano

The change will kick in when you login again. Or you can also call that line to make the changes effective immediately.
